Add PharmaCare Recap: Add Pharma Hosts Occupational Health Session at Charter House

As part of its ongoing commitment to employee wellness and preventive healthcare, Add Pharma held an interactive health session at Charter House Productions on Thursday, July 10, 2025. The initiative, a component of the Add PharmaCare Program, aims to raise awareness about occupational health risks among corporate workers and provide practical ways to mitigate them.

The session, which began at around 11:00 a.m., brought together about 26 vibrant employees from Charter House Productions, including members of senior management such as Mrs. Angela Anyormisi (HR Manager – People and Culture) . Organized under the theme ”Occupational Health as a Corporate Worker”, the event underscored Charter House’s commitment to employee well-being and reflected Add Pharma’s mission to contribute to the welfare of every community in which it operates.

Led by a multidisciplinary team from Add Pharma, the session featured Dr. Andy Andoh-Mensah (PharmD) and Pharm. Edmond Boye as presenters, with Dr. Daniel Sarpong (PharmD) facilitating discussions. They were joined by  Mr. Joseph Kwasi Acheampong (Head, Retail Division), Pharm. Afua Sakyiwa Odamtten(Mrs.) (Insurance & Corporate Manager), and Ms. Janet (Insurance & Corporate Officer). Together, the team guided interactive segments, encouraged dialogue, and created an engaging learning experience for all participants.

The presentation highlighted often-overlooked health risks of office work, including back and neck pain, stress, and eyestrain from prolonged screen use. Employees also learnt about lifestyle-related conditions such as hypertension, obesity, and diabetes, with emphasis on hydration, nutrition, and exercise as essential preventive measures for corporate workers. For Charter House staff, who also spend long hours setting up for events, the discussion stressed the added importance of managing physical strain and maintaining overall wellness.

The Q&A session was so engaging that Angela Anyormisi (HR Manager – People & Culture, Charter House) extended it by about 30 minutes to accommodate more questions by popular request. Staff sought insights on water intake and kidney health, stress-induced hypertension, gastritis and ulcers, typhoid fever, inadequate sleep, late-night eating habits, drug-related concerns such as the use of painkillers, and the reliance on caffeine and energy drinks to cope with burnout, along with several real-life scenarios faced as corporate workers.

With Charter House Productions enrolled on Add Pharma’s Corporate Service, Pharm. Afua Sakyiwaa Odamtten(Mrs.) (Insurance & Corporate Manager– Add Pharma) and Ms. Janet Wereko( Insurance & Corporate Officer) took a moment to remind staff of the many pharmaceutical service benefits available to them, including the exciting free delivery service right to their offices.

The session, which ended at around 12:30 pm, was a success. Special recognition goes to Charter House leadership, Mrs. Angela Anyormisi, Mr. Kenneth Amoako, and the entire management team, for their commitment to staff welfare and making the program a reality. Kudos to all Charter House staff for their active participation.
